Below is a rating of the top 50 U.S. allopathic medical schools by Dr. Jack Gourman. These rankings are from “The Gourman Report: A Rating of Graduate and Professional Programs in American and International Universities, Eighth Edition," published 1997, by The Princeton Review of Random House. The Gourman Report takes into account a larger number of variables than the U.S. News rankings. The Gourman Report has traditionally been updated about every 2-3 years, whereas the U.S. News rankings have been updated every year. Even though the Gourman Report and the U.S. News rankings are not in complete agreement, a medical school ranked highly in both of these sources stands a better chance of being a reliably excellent school than does a school that is ranked highly in one, but low in the other source.
