Citizens Against Property TAx eXcess
www.captax.org is a non-profit organization of concerned citizens founded by San Antonio citizen, John Tennison
After being victimized by the unjust practices of the Bexar County Appraisal District (resulting in his filing a lawsuit for which the Bexar County Appraisal District settled out of court), John Tennison decided to establish the www.captax.org website on May 23, 2006.
1. If you are a property owner in Bexar County whose property has been unfairly assessed by the Bexar County Appraisal District,
2. Or If you have been interrogated, intimidated, or otherwise disrespected by the Bexar County Appraisal District staff,
THEN please send an email to John Tennison at nonjohn@yahoo.com or call him at 210-884-0990.
To the extent that unfair treatment of the sort Tennison has experienced proves to be pervasive, a class action lawsuit could result, so please do not hesitate to contact John Tennison so that he may more accurately document unjust treatment.
Ultimately, the overall purpose of Captax is to assure DUE PROCESS to all Bexar County citizens by removing the secrecy, arbitrariness, and capriciousness surrounding the inner workings of the Bexar County Appraisal District. Captax will expose unfair, arbitrary, and capricious ways in which the Bexar County Properties are assessed, and thereby increase the likelihood that all citizens are treated fairly under the law. Specifically, no one citizen should be forced to pay more than his or her fair share of taxes, while another citizen is paying far less than their fair share. Such disparities must stop.
All citizens should never forget they THEY are the owners of government, NOT the other way around. The Bexar County Appraisal District is funded by taxpayer dollars. The Bexar County Appraisal District and its staff MUST answer to tax payers, NOT the other way around. Stand up and be heard.
